Section at Waterstock Golf Club
A warm welcome to the Seniors Section web page. The Seniors Section is for male golfers of 55 years and over, no upper age
limit ! We are a very friendly bunch of 50 to 60 active members who enjoy golf and the social aspects of the Section.
The Seniors generally meet every Monday (8.15 am draw), Wednesday (9.15am draw) and Friday mornings (8.15am draw) to enjoy a sociable roll up round. In addition there are several friendly matches arranged with others clubs in the area, and whilst we like to be competitive the friendly spirit of the game and good company are foremost.
We are fortunate to have a very active committee and have enjoyed several away days and golfing breaks in the UK and Europe, together with a regular Order of Merit Competition and various fun events during the year.
So if you are interested in joining our happy band, no matter what your handicap, please do not hesitate to contact either myself or any of the committee members.

Thanks to all those Seniors who have turned up for the matches, and who will no doubt agree that we have enjoyed some very good company and at times some good golf.
Senior Captain’s Charity for 2010
The chosen Charity is the Stokenchurch Dog Rescue, in order assist in raising funds for this charity there will be an optional entry on Monday’s into the Captain’s charity challenge. Cost is £1 per entry for a bottle of wine for nearest the pin on two of the par three holes.

Wiltshire mini break 2nd to 4th August 2010
Some 21 Seniors embarked on the mini break (European Tour) and enjoyed three days golf at the Wiltshire Golf and Country Club near Wootton Bassett. On arrival the Peter Alliss pro celebratory match was underway and the usual banter ensued. Our thanks to Roger Tavinor for his excellent organisation of our event, and also to the host venue for the hospitality extended to us.
The results for the Matches played :
Monday Team Stableford - Winners ~ Dave North, Roger Tavinor & Martin Burgess – 87 points
“Garden Curse” Second place ~ Roger West, Dave Kew & Dave March – 86 points
Third place ~ Colin Blissett, Malcolm Benson & Ron Anders – 85 points
Tuesday Singles Stableford - Winner ~ Derek Hawes (new holder of the European Trophy) 39 points
“Lakes Course” Second place ~ Keith Ward – 37 points
Third place ~ Colin Blissett – 34 points
Wednesday Team Texas Scramble Winners ~ Simon Shew, Colin Blissett, Clive Hallett & Dave Brown - Gross 72 nett 63
“Lakes Course” Second place ~ Tom Langton, Roger Tavinor, Dave Kew & Alan Harvey - Gross 73 nett 64
Third place ~ Peter Marsh, Malcolm Benson, Rod Penwill & Roger West - Gross 79 nett 70
There were also prizes for nearest the pin on all three days and these were won by ~ Roger Tavinor (twice), Derek Hawes (twice), Dave North, and Simon Shew.
During the three days £ 62 was raised for the Captain’s Charity, Each player received 7 golf balls kindly donated by Don Brooks.
Mrs Jennifer Shah (General Manager of the Wiltshire) kindly donated a 4 ball voucher for the Lakes Course, this will be raffled with proceeds to the Captain’s Charity.
